Entrance Gate is where the player can start the experience as a Dream World robot, DOS. The Entrance Gate is a tutorial area, and also where the player encounters Mil. The player is required to move around and grab/scale certain objects to continue their journey.
Usability was one of the biggest challenges of the project. I play-tested 9 players to test whether the players are able to figure out the controls for locomotion, grabbing, and scaling. Because the players were manipulating both DOS and Mil, some players were confused how they should collide with interactive objects.
To solve this problem, I have concluded that the player should ONLY manipulate the movement of the robot. For the final product, Mil will be engineered to move along a set path, independent form the player.
